A judge has ruled that a man who allegedly shot a state police officer in the neck will stay in jail for now, KRQE reported.

Prosecutors asked a judge to keep Caleb Elledge detained before his trial, and the defendant's lawyers did not contest the motion, the station reported.

“At this time, Mr. Elledge is going to waive his right to a hearing in this matter and would (stipulate) to the detention hold,” defense attorney Stefanie Gulley said in court, according to KRQE. The hearing lasted only a few minutes.

"I will also accept the stipulation to the factors … find that the defendant is dangerous and that the court cannot fashion any conditions or combination of conditions that would adequately protect the public at this time,” Judge Clara Moran of the Second Judiciary District Court said to KRQE.

Elledge was on the run for breaking probation when he led police on a chase which ended with an officer getting shot in the neck, KRQU said.

The man was arrested two days later and the officer who was shot survived, the station said.

Elledge has a long criminal history, going back to a 206 assault on a family member, according to the station.

The most recent incident led to a miles-long chase with a state police officer using a pit maneuver to stop Elledge and another suspect, Alanna Martinez, the story said. Elledge then shot a police supervisor in the neck, police said. He and Martinez were arrested the next day at a house in McIntosh.
