An alleged threat to a flight attendant working aboard a North Carolina flight to Los Angeles earlier this month forced the aircraft to make an emergency landing at Albuquerque International Sunport.

Some passengers on American Airlines flight 482 told Albuquerque CBS affiliate KRQE that a man and woman with four children caused a disruption in an effort to sit together, as the Airbus A321 began the boarding process at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

The ordeal was documented in a social media post that KRQE obtained.

The station reported that during the flight, the man’s children began running up and down the aisle, prompting a crew member to intervene after numerous passengers complained.

The father purportedly said to the flight attendant who directed him to settle the children down, “I have your information, I will find you and I will shoot you.”

Flight 482's pilot then declared an emergency and diverted the plane to the Sunport, KRQE reported.

Albuquerque police said the FBI will oversee the charges and subsequent investigation into the incident.

A statement from American Airlines thanked the flight crew "for their professionalism."

"[We] apologize to our customers for any inconvenience," the airline said in the statement.
