Obituary

Ralph R. Pesce passed away at the age of 87, on Monday, January 24, 2022, while surrounded by his loving family. Ralph was born in Everett, Massachusetts on October 20, 1934, to John and Theresa Pesce and grew up with his three siblings, Jacqueline, Geraldine, and James in an Italian American community. Ralph was a proud veteran serving in the United Sates Air Force during the Korean War.

His journey in the service led him to Albuquerque, where he met and married the love of his life, Sylvia Montaño. Ralph and Sylvia were married in 1956 and lived in Albuquerque's North Valley where they raised their four children, Terri, Ralph II, Mike, and Stephanie.

Ralph took pride in his work and possessed a diligent work ethic. He retired in 1990 after serving 33 years with Mountain Bell Telephone Company. His success as a quality control technician was attributed to his demands for high standards, and he continued working in his trade after retirement.

In retirement, Ralph and Sylvia loved to travel the world, including cruising to destinations in Europe and Alaska. He also enjoyed his time on the golf course with dear friends. Ralph always brought his Bostonian accent and candid, lay-person's charm to every conversation. Ralph passes down the Italian American tradition of pizzelle-making (an Italian cookie) to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ralph is survived by Sylvia, his wife of 65 years; his siblings, Jacqueline and James; his children: Terri (Mitch) Yoakum, Ralph (Theresa) Pesce II, and Mike Pesce; grandchildren: Michelle (Chad) Dupic, Myrissa (Steve) Jenkins, Ralph (Dakota) Pesce, and Demetria Sierra; and great-grandchildren, Isabella, Sophia, Marco, Ralph "Alfie" IV, with three more on the way.

Ralph was preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie, and sister, Geraldine. Ralph was an active member of the Catholic Church and belonged to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish on Albuquerque's Westside.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 7, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 572 Paradise Blvd. NW, a Rosary will be recited at 10:15 a.m. prior to the mass.
