The Albuquerque city council and Parks and Recreation department announced some completed renovations to Eagle Ranch Park: The playground now comes fitted with new ramps for people with disabilities (ADA), upgraded swings, and playground resurfacing, according to KRQE.
“It is great to be improving our Northwest Mesa Parks with new play equipment, especially during the pandemic when people are spending more time outside," said Council President Cynthia Borrego in a release. "Thank you to the City of Albuquerque Parks and Recreation Department and Director Simon for the department’s creative design work to eventually include a nature play area at Eagle Ranch Park and for the department’s dedication to completing the park’s renovation."
In early 2019, people who live close to the park approached Borrego, stating the need for improvements to the playground equipment. Borrego received funds for improvements from the Eagle Ranch Neighborhood, District 5 Set-Aside funds, and the City’s Park and Recreation Department.
The total cost for the renovation project of Eagle Ranch Park was $211,797, and the Parks and Recreation Department will install a “Nature Play” area to the playground in 2022 for $30,000.
