A suspect who was wanted for vandalizing the Albuquerque Main Police Station with graffiti early Wednesday morning has been arrested, according to the police department.
Shaun Willoughby, president of the Albuquerque Police Officers Association said the suspect was 45-year-old Jennifer Otte, who has been charged with criminal damage over $1,000 and who should remain incarcerated as she wasn’t remorseful for her actions, according to KRQE.
“This individual, if she wants to spray paint other people’s stuff causing damage, she should be in jail and she should stay in jail until she changes her attitude. She is willing — doing this because she is not afraid of the criminal justice system,” Willoughby said.
Jennifer Otte was arrested and charged with vandalizing the Albuquerque Main Police Station.
The incident happened at approximately 1 a.m. Wednesday morning. Otte was found on the premises holding a can of spray paint was seen on surveillance video, according to police. She has been subsequently charged with felony criminal charges.
City crews have already begun to remove the graffiti, which included racial slurs written in red spray paint along the building’s stairs, walls, and exterior benches and planters, according to KRQE.
The station also reported that this was not Otte’s first run-in with the law as she was accused of defiling the memorial of slain APD Officer Daniel Webster in 2016.
