The Lobos women's basketball team at the University of New Mexico won its first exhibition game on Sunday, Oct. 31, with a final score of 94-53 against Western Colorado University.

The team followed that up with a solid 88-72 win over Eastern New Mexico on Nov. 4

“It was good at times and sloppy at times and you know we were disorganized and hopefully those are things we can start to work on tomorrow," coach Mike Bradbury told KRQE after the Western Colorado win. "On the bright side, I think our effort was really good, we competed, and that was the biggest thing we were trying to get out of this game and get back to used to playing in front of some people."

When it came down to players and points, LaTora Duff and Shaiquel McGruder both finished strong with 16 points, while Jaedyn De La Cerda scored 13 and Vianè Cumber with 12 points, according to a Lobos press release.

It was the first time the team had ever played on Halloween and the first time the Lobos and Western Colorado faced off. The Lobos were also awarded their rings at the 2020-2021 Mountain West Championship ceremony before the game, according to Go Lobos.

Against Eastern New Mexico, four Lobos again finished in double figures: De La Cerda led all scorers with 21 points, Antonia Anderson had 15 and Duff 14 points, while Cumber hit three 3-pointers on the way to 11 points.

The Lobos begin regular season play on Nov. 9.
