The New Mexico Human Services Department is set to begin accepting applications on Tuesday, Oct. 12, as it readies to distribute $1.4 million in economic relief assistance to New Mexico residents as the pandemic continues.

The state-provided funding differs from that previously provided by the federal government, and eligibility requires that residents did not qualify for the federal stimulus payments and did not receive the July 2021 New Mexico economic relief payment, according to the Human Services Department.

“Many low-income New Mexico families have experienced substantial economic and personal losses. These funds will help people in our community who were overlooked by the federal stimulus programs, and who need the extra money to help feed and house their families," said Angela Medrano, Deputy Secretary for the Human Services Department in a press release.

Applications for the economic relief assistance funds are available through the Yes New Mexico website beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 12 until 3 p.m. on Oct. 22. Applications must include: First name and last name; either a New Mexico driver’s license number, individual taxpayer identification number, or Social Security number; a residential address and/or mailing address; and direct deposit information if available, according to the Health Services Department.
