A one-time cash payment of $466 was issued to New Mexico families eligible for the Pandemic Emergency Assistance Fund. The one-time payment was issued on Oct. 2 to nearly 13,000 New Mexico households.

Families received funding, which totaled $5.6 million, from the Administration of Children and Families, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) Program created to aid families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a release. The money can be used for housing, utility payments, food, clothing, and school expenses.

“This critical assistance will help nearly 13,000 working New Mexico families,” said Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham in the release. “My administration will continue to aggressively pursue every avenue for helping working families get the services and assistance they need, whether it’s child care, or energy assistance, or cash for other necessities.”

Families that received the payments had to have participated in either TANF, diversion payment, support services, New Mexico Work Program, Education Work Program, Wage Subsidy Program, General Assistance-Unrelated Child or Hardship cash programs in January 2021, according to the press release.
