UNM director selected for prestigious Association of Research Libraries fellows program

Cindy Pierard is one of 20 fellows selected this year for the prestigious program

Cindy Pierard, director of Access Service and Undergraduate Engagement in the College of University Libraries and Learning Sciences (CULLS), was selected for the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) Leadership Fellows Program this week, the first University of New Mexico professor to receive the honor.

Pierard is one of 20 fellows selected this year for the prestigious program designed to develops and prepares the next generation of senior-level library and archival leaders. This year's selected cohort of fellows represents a wide range of Canadian and U.S. research institutes and communities, according to a press release from UNM

“I am excited to participate in this program during a time of significant challenge and change for research and learning organizations. This is a great opportunity to contribute to discussions about research library development and to learn from and with others in the cohort and at ARL," said Pierard in a press release.

Pierard joined CULLS in 2014, where she is now director of Access Service and Undergraduate Engagement and responsible for helping the campus and community users access resources, services, and spaces to interact with new information and ideas. She is also a special assistant to the dead for disaster response and recovery.

The Association of Research Libraries Leadership Fellows Program was established in 2004 and aims to connect and prepare future library and archival leaders.
