South Valley Respite Center's doors are opening, aiding families who are caring for elderly or disabled family members.

Albuquerque and Bernalillo County officials recently introduced the particularities of the new facility, KRQE reported.

“This facility is going to be able to serve generations. So, I know it took a long time, but it’s going to be here for a long time and that’s what this community needs,” Anna Sanchez, Director of Senior Affairs said.

Operations will begin after Labor Day, KRQE reports.

The new center will specialize in elderly care and healthcare for the disabled. Developed 24 years ago, services include activities and the ability to interact with other seniors in a safe environment, offering peace of mind for caregivers while they're away from their loved ones. It's operated and managed by Cornucopia Adult Day Services.
