Jesse Larios, otherwise known as Bearsun, recently visited Clayton wearing a bear costume during his journey across the country to raise money for numerous charities.

The Los Angeles Times reports Larios is walking from Los Angeles to New York in support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Active Minds, Autism Society for America, Villa Esperanza and Environmental Defends.

“Thank you to the community of Clayton for such a warm welcome for Bearsun,” The Union County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a Aug. 24 Facebook post. “You all are amazing!!”

A meet and greet with Bearsun was held at The Eklund Patio, according to The Union Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

The Sheriff’s Office encouraged residents to purchase merchandise or make a donation by visiting Bearsun’s website.

While walking through New Mexico the past few weeks, KOAT states Larios has visited the communities of Crownpoint, Cuba, Taos Pueblo and Springer.

He has already reached his fundraising goal of $15,000, according to KOAT.

Larios previously collected $17,000 in charity donations during a two-week journey from Los Angeles to San Francisco back in April, as reported by the San Francisco Chronicle.
