Boxer and native New Mexican Brian Mendoza will be the headliner in a PBC fight card against the undefeated Jesus Ramos Jr. on Sept. 5 at the Armory in Minneapolis, Minn.

Mendoza, who trains in Las Vegas, owns a current record of 19-1, according to KRQE.

"We’ve been grinding man. I’ve been through like four camps maybe, three or four camps,” Mendoza said in a video by KRQE. “You know, it’s just big opportunity falling through after big opportunity. So, this one’s huge, you know. It’s not the big name I was looking for, but it’s a guy with a lot of hype around him.”

The 27-year-old is 5-10 and was born in Albuquerque, N.M., Boxrec reported.

“I’ve been grinding in the gym nonstop preparing for an opportunity like this,” Mendoza told Boxing Scene. “I’ve been learning a lot and I believe that it’s time for the world to see the fighter I’ve become. I can’t wait to put my skills on display. Don’t miss this fight on Sept. 5, it’s going to be explosive.”

Mendoza said he has made huge leaps in improvement, KRQE reported.

“Jesus Ramos is primed to break through into the next level of boxing’s rising stars and will look to make big steps towards his goal in a tough test against Brian Mendoza,” Tom Brown, President of TGB Promotions, told Boxing Scene. “The fantastic fight fans at The Armory in Minneapolis will be in for a night loaded with young rising stars from start to finish, as lightweight Starling Castillo and middleweight Armando Resendiz step in for difficult matchups against Juan Carlos Burgos and Marcos Hernandez respectively. Sunday, Sept. 5 is going to be a can’t miss lineup of action live in primetime on FOX.”
