She was a devoted and loving daughter, daughter in law, wife, mother, nana, sister and aunt.  She is survived by the love of her life and husband, Martin Patricio Gomez; her daughters, Michelle Adelina Gomez-Gilchrist, Sonia Maria Abelina Gomez Nieto, Candace Terese Gomez, and her son Martin Patrick Gomez, Jr.  She is also survived by her granddaughters, Lindsey Gomez, Angelica Foster, Alyssa Foster, Julianna Gomez, Sophie Gomez, Sarah Gomez, Eva Gilchrist, and Carissa Sanchez; and by her grandsons, Patrick Day, Alejandro Gomez, Joel Garcia, Sekou Gilchrist II, and Jossiah Sanchez.  She is survived additionally by her sisters, Pancha Baca (h) “Frank,” Alice Lopez (h) Manuel, Beatrice Gonzales (h) Lawrence, and Margaret Benavidez (h) Geno; and by her father-in-law, Antonio Gomez, his wife Carmen Gomez, and many brothers- and sisters-in-law and nephews and nieces.

Evelyn was a devoted wife who loved her best friend and husband beyond words.  She fought long and hard to stay on this earth because she didn’t want to leave his side and her life with him.  He cared for her for so many years and she was always so grateful for that.  She never missed an opportunity to thank him.  No matter how sick she was, she was always determined to fight and survive no matter the obstacles.

Evelyn loved her children very much.  She kept in touch with all both near and far.  We never felt like we were away from her.  She was a loveable and affectionate woman.  She loved all animals, but especially dogs, cats, and birds. She never hesitated to take in strays and nurse them back to health.  We will miss her kisses, hugs, and the way she smelled.  Her grandchildren were also near and dear to her heart.  For many years she cared for them, cooking for them, taking them to school, attending sporting events.  She did it all and she loved it.  She made them laugh ALL the time.  They will surely miss their nana’s laughter and wit.

Thank you mom, for loving us and loving our dad the way you did.  We are so blessed to have had such a beautiful person in our lives.  We will forever miss your beautiful smile, and the joy you brought to so many lives.  You never liked saying goodbye and we will not start now.  See you later.

Rest in heaven mom.
