Biography
Timothy James Dabbs, 75 of Santa Fe, NM unexpectedly passed away on May 20, 2021. Born January 3, 1946 Tim was raised in Dallas, TX before moving to Red River, NM with his family. He attended Highlands University earning degrees in Electronics and Economics. While at Highlands he met his beloved wife of 50 years, Patricia.
After graduating from Highlands Tim joined the Marine Corps and received a Meritorious Mast for writing an instructional book. Upon completing his service with the Marine Corps, he returned to New Mexico settling in Santa Fe. Tim called New Mexico home and loved both the history and culture.
Tim returned to school earning his master’s degree from UNM in public administration. He worked as a typesetter for a short while with the New Mexican and then began his career with the State of New Mexico in the Motor Transportation department. He graduated from the Police Academy at the age 42 and after 22 years of service retired as Director of the MTD in 1997. After retirement, Tim pursued a second career as a Private Investigator establishing his own company, Infotect. An important part of his work was serving the public defender’s office where he helped represent the under-represented.
Tim was a man of faith serving the Lord in many capacities. He served as a Deacon, an Elder and directed children's education and ultimately preached for 20 years at the College Church of Christ.
He had many passions and interests wearing many hats some of which include: little league coach, cub master, teacher, artist, craftsman, musician, fisherman, history buff, salsa maker and self-proclaimed comedian
Tim is preceded in death by his father and mother D.G. and Mary Jewel Dabbs and his in-laws Charlie and Lucy Rudolph. He is survived by his wife Patricia Dabbs, his son and daughter-in-law Tim Jr. and Denise, two grandchildren who were the light of his life, Evan and Luke, His daughter Amy, son’s Chris and Sam, other family including cousins, brother in-laws, sister- in-laws, many nieces and nephews and many friends including dear friend and brother in Christ, George Martinez.
Tim’s Memorial Service will be held at the Kiva Chapel of Light at Rivera Memorial Gardens, 417 Rodeo Road, Santa Fe on June 10, 2021 at 1 p.m. followed by Burial at the National Cemetery at 3pm.
