Equality New Mexico seeks coordinator for statewide LGBTQ summit

Equality New Mexico (EQNM) has announced an open position for an Event Coordinator to help plan and execute its upcoming LGBTQ Statewide Summit. The role, which is primarily remote but requires in-person work in New Mexico during the event, offers compensation of $75 per hour with a maximum of 20 hours per month and a total contract cap of $14,000. Travel and lodging expenses for in-person duties will be covered by EQNM. The Event Coordinator will report to the Chief Liberation Officer.

EQNM describes its mission as working to build "an empowered, connected, and inclusive LGBTQ community across the state." The organization focuses on advocacy, leadership development, and community building aimed at strengthening the future for LGBTQ people in New Mexico.

The coordinator will be responsible for organizing vendors related to catering, entertainment, rentals, and logistics; supporting sponsorships; managing ticketing and registration; overseeing volunteer activities; ensuring smooth setup and takedown; tracking budgets; maintaining expense records; producing event materials on schedule; providing weekly updates to leadership; and participating in staff meetings.

Candidates are expected to collaborate with various members of EQNM’s staff including the Director of Policy and People, Director of Influence, Experience and Culture, Internal Liberation Strategist, Community Engagement Strategist, Narrative and Voice Strategist, and Development & Engagement Strategist.

Preferred qualifications include experience with digital event management tools such as Whova, prior event planning experience, knowledge of LGBTQ cultural issues, strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, time management skills, and the ability to work independently.

The position involves flexible remote work before the summit as well as required attendance during setup, execution of the event itself, and takedown in New Mexico. The average workload is estimated at about five hours per week but may vary depending on scheduling needs.
