The staff at Southern New Mexico Correctional Facility (SNMCF) have raised significant funds to support local organizations aiding families dealing with cancer. One beneficiary, SNM Families Fighting Childhood Cancer, utilized the donations to purchase wagons and headphones for families in need. Among those helped was the family of Paul Ford, a firefighter and paramedic from Las Cruces Fire Department.
Ford expressed gratitude for the assistance, highlighting how their new blue wagon has positively impacted his son Liam's hospital visits. "We use the wagon to transport Liam back and forth from El Paso Children’s Hospital to the parking garage after his chemotherapy sessions, as he gets very tired. My wife and I are incredibly grateful," Ford said.
The initiative reflects efforts by the New Mexico Corrections Department to support community causes through its staff's fundraising activities.
