New Mexico plans property tax auctions for delinquent accounts in four counties

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

Delinquent property tax auctions are set to take place in December across four counties in New Mexico. The New Mexico Taxation & Revenue Department will conduct these auctions in Rio Arriba, Doña Ana, Socorro, and Bernalillo Counties. The aim is to recover unpaid property taxes that have been overdue for at least four years.

The state informs taxpayers of their outstanding taxes and the potential sale of their properties. If taxes remain unpaid, the properties are put up for auction. Auctions will occur on December 4 in Rio Arriba County at the County Annex Building Commission Chambers in Española; on December 15 in Doña Ana County at 845 N Motel Blvd., Las Cruces; on December 16 in Socorro County at the County Annex in Socorro; and on December 18 in Bernalillo County at Alvarado Square, Albuquerque.

Bidders must register on-site starting at 8 a.m. on auction days, with registration closing when the auction begins. Payment from successful bidders is required immediately after the auction concludes. Acceptable payment methods include money orders, certified checks, cashier’s checks, or personal/business checks backed by a bank letter of credit covering the bid amount.

Further details about the auctions can be found on the Delinquent Property Tax Auctions page at tax.newmexico.gov under Business and then Property Tax. For assistance or inquiries, individuals can contact 505-827-0883.
