New Mexico Attorney General announces arrest of child predator Thomas Nathaniel Goff

Agents from the New Mexico Department of Justice, in collaboration with the FBI, have arrested Thomas Nathaniel Goff. He faces charges of child solicitation by electronic communication device. Goff allegedly solicited someone he believed to be a 12-year-old girl for sexual activity and attempted to meet her in person. This charge is a second-degree felony that could result in a nine-year sentence if convicted.

Attorney General Raúl Torrez said, "Goff’s predatory actions are absolutely reprehensible, and he has no business being anywhere near New Mexico’s children." He praised the swift work of Special Investigations agents and federal partners at the FBI for apprehending Goff. Torrez emphasized his office's commitment to prosecuting child predators aggressively.

In September 2025, an undercover FBI agent posted an online ad posing as a 12-year-old girl seeking friends. Goff responded on November 17, 2025, using an alias. After realizing he was communicating with a minor, he began asking sexual questions and requesting graphic photographs. The conversation shifted to text messages where Goff continued his inappropriate inquiries and encouraged sexual behavior.

On November 19, 2025, Goff proposed meeting for physical engagement at a park in Albuquerque after school hours. On November 20, agents observed a vehicle entering the parking lot at the designated location. The vehicle circled several times before stopping when the minor informed Goff she was on the other side of the park. Goff then invited her to enter his vehicle via text message. Agents positively identified and apprehended him at this point.

Kyle Hartsock, NMDOJ Director of Special Investigations, commented on the arrest: "Finding dangerous adults who are seeking out intimate relationships with children will always be our top priority." He expressed satisfaction that Mr. Goff would be removed from public spaces thanks to joint efforts by state agents and the FBI.

Goff is currently detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center.
