The Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce is encouraging its members and the broader business community to participate in the University of New Mexico’s search for a new president. The university’s Board of Regents has started the process by organizing a series of listening sessions aimed at gathering input that will help shape the criteria for selecting UNM’s 24th president.

These sessions are scheduled for November and are open to all members of the university and local community. Participants can attend in person or join virtually. The first session will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. MST at the UNM Student Union Building, Mirage-Thunderbird Room, with a Zoom link available at presidentialsearch.unm.edu. The second session is set for Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. MST at the UNM Domenici Education Center North Room 3170, also with an online participation option.

Those who cannot attend are encouraged to provide their feedback through the university’s presidential search website.

The Chamber expressed support for involving community voices in this process, stating: “Having a voice in the process is important and the Chamber is pleased to see UNM Regents looking to the community in shaping the criteria in the search for UNM’s 24th president.”

The initiative aims to ensure that business leaders and residents have input into what qualities and priorities should guide UNM’s next leader.
