The city of Albuquerque’s Department of Arts & Culture and its Public Art Urban Enhancement Division are highlighting the creative abilities of city employees through an exhibition titled “Art Works: CABQ Employee Art Show.” The show opens at Gallery One in City Hall on Thursday, November 20, with a public reception scheduled from 4 to 7:30 p.m.
Michael Ogilvie, manager of the Public Art Urban Enhancement Division, stated, “Creativity plays a vital role in fostering inclusion. It helps us connect across diverse backgrounds, spark new ideas, and strengthen our service to the community. This exhibit reflects that spirit, and we’re grateful to everyone whose creativity helps make our city a more welcoming and inspiring place for all.”
More than 60 employees from 21 departments—including Aviation, Environmental Health, Human Resources, and Senior Affairs—are participating in the exhibition. The artworks include music performances as well as jewelry, sculpture, paper quilling, wood carving, painting, and poetry. The event demonstrates how public service can be combined with artistic interests.
Launched in 2020 as part of an effort to create a vibrant and inclusive workplace culture within the city government, the art show has seen increased participation over time. It offers residents an opportunity to see the creative work produced by city staff.
“Art Works: CABQ Employee Art Show” will remain open until February 13, 2026. Both the opening reception and ongoing exhibition are free to attend. Gallery One is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., located on the first floor of City Hall at 1 Civic Plaza NW.
