The University of New Mexico (UNM) Board of Regents has started the process to find a new university president and is inviting input from faculty, staff, students, and the wider community. The Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce is encouraging its members and the business community to participate in this public process.
A series of listening sessions will be held in November, both in person and virtually, to gather feedback that will help shape the leadership profile for UNM’s next president. Open forums are scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 18 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. MST at the UNM Student Union Building, Mirage-Thunderbird Room, and Wednesday, Nov. 19 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. MST at the UNM Domenici Education Center North Room 3170. Virtual participation details will be available at presidentialsearch.unm.edu.
Those who cannot attend are encouraged to provide their input online through the same website.
“The feedback we receive from our community will play a vital role in shaping the leadership profile for UNM’s next president,” said Board of Regents Chair Paul Blanchard. “We look forward to hearing directly from the people who make up the core of our university — our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the New Mexicans we serve.”
Additionally, on Monday, Nov. 17, a session will be held with various community groups across New Mexico as part of efforts to gather broader input.
More information about the search process and future updates can be found at presidentialsearch.unm.edu.
The Chamber expressed support for involving the community in determining criteria for selecting UNM’s next leader.
