U.S. Representative Teresa Leger Fernández posted a series of tweets on November 12, 2025, raising concerns about Senate actions related to the January 6 Capitol attack and criticizing Republican responses to proposed amendments.
In her first post, Leger Fernández wrote, "Officers were injured defending this Capitol on January 6th. And now eight Senators snuck in a MILLION-DOLLAR PAYOUT for themselves for being investigated for their possible involvement in the insurrection." (November 12, 2025).
Shortly after, she continued her criticism by commenting on Republican actions: "Republicans are not even considering this amendment. I guess MAGA stands for MAKE ARGENTINA GREAT AGAIN…" (November 12, 2025).
Later that morning, Leger Fernández added another remark: "You can’t make this stuff up." (November 12, 2025).
Leger Fernández has served as U.S. Representative since winning the seat in the 2020 general election against Alexis Martinez Johnson. She retained her position through subsequent elections in 2022 and 2024, defeating Alexis Martinez Johnson again in 2022 and Sharon Clahchischilliage in 2024.
