Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández addresses healthcare policy and leadership legacy on social media

Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández, a U.S. Representative from New Mexico, has recently posted a series of statements on her official X (formerly Twitter) account addressing healthcare issues, political leadership, and concerns about federal funding under former President Trump.

On November 5, 2025, Rep. Leger Fernández invited constituents to participate in an upcoming town hall focused on healthcare in Taos. She wrote: "Join me for a Healthcare Town Hall tomorrow, November 6th, at 5:30 PM in Taos. Come share your stories about how Republican policies are impacting your healthcare and hear about the work we’re doing in D.C. to fight for you.

Later that day, she expressed criticism regarding the handling of federal funds by former President Trump and highlighted anxieties among families reliant on government support. Her post stated: "Imagine if your child’s food next week depended on a tweet by the President…

People are scared, confused, and pissed at Trump—as they should be. He has the money. He must release it now. https://t.co/2QTcgXrFKS" (posted November 5, 2025).

On November 6, Rep. Leger Fernández reflected on the legacy of Nancy Pelosi as Speaker Emerita of the House of Representatives: "Nancy Pelosi’s leadership gave millions care through the ACA, guided our nation through crisis, and proved what is possible when we put people first.

She will be remembered in our history books and in our hearts as Speaker Emerita for her towering legacy.

Gracias, Madam https://t.co/mb0sV5tMoh" (posted November 6, 2025).

Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández has held her congressional seat since winning her first election in 2020 against Alexis Martinez Johnson with nearly 59% of the vote. She was re-elected in both 2022 and 2024 general elections—defeating Alexis Martinez Johnson again in 2022 with over 58% of votes and Sharon Clahchischilliage in a closely contested race in 2024.
