Eastern New Mexico University's Department of Theatre and Digital Filmmaking will stage the play “This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girl Does Nothing” at the University Theatre Center Studio Theatre. The production is written by Finegan Kruckemeyer and directed by ENMU faculty member Clara Kundin.
The story centers on three sisters who are abandoned in the woods and each take a different path in life. One travels around the world, another seeks adventure on the seas, and the third remains to build a new life from their old one. After twenty years, they reunite to reflect on their experiences with strength and success.
"This is one of the most beautiful shows I've worked on. The writing is poetic, and the stories of each girl are compelling,” said Kundin. “It's truly a show for families as there is something that everyone, young to old, will enjoy — from pillow fights to heartbreak to a ride on the ocean."
The performances are designed to be relaxed and sensory-sensitive for audiences aged six and older.
The play opens November 13 and runs through November 16 at ENMU's University Theatre Center Studio Theatre. Additional performances will be held at Valencia Elementary in Portales and at the Arts Academy at Bella Vista in Clovis. Tickets cost $10 for general admission, $7 for seniors, active-duty military personnel, and current ENMU faculty or staff; ENMU students with valid ID may attend free of charge. More information about tickets can be found at enmu.edu/TheatreLive.
