Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) has announced the launch of a new annual giving program, "1ROO for ENMU," set to begin on November 20, 2025. The initiative aims to bring together supporters through a centralized platform to help advance the university’s mission.

The name "1ROO" is inspired by the call used by greyhounds, symbolizing unity and connection among the university community. Amanda Baca, director of Annual Giving and Engagement at ENMU, said, "At Eastern, our Roo is more than just a call. It’s the embodiment of our Greyhound grit, determination, and unwavering loyalty. This is our unique call to purpose. Giving through 1ROO ensures ENMU remains a place where dreams are nurtured, courage is fostered, and tenacity is rewarded."

The Office of Annual Giving and Engagement plans to release more details about how to access the giving website in upcoming press releases and through social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Dr. James Johnston, ENMU system chancellor and president of ENMU-Portales, commented on the significance of the program: “I am very excited for the launch of this program. This fund allows divisions and departments of the university to respond to opportunities and to support student success.”

Supporters are encouraged to participate in the campaign by answering what organizers describe as "the call": “Answer 1ROO for ENMU!”
