New Mexico Public Regulation Commission seeks public input on gas company sale

The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (NMPRC) is seeking public input on the proposed sale of New Mexico Gas Company (NMGC) to Bernhard Capital Partners and other applicants. The NMPRC will hold a public hearing where residents can share their views on the acquisition, which requires the Commission's approval to proceed.

Scheduled for Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 4-7 p.m., the hearing will take place at the NM811-Call Before You Dig Building in Albuquerque and will also be available online via the NMPRC’s YouTube channel. This event follows a joint application submitted in October 2024 by Emera Inc., NMGC, Saturn Utilities Holdco, and their affiliates. If approved, Saturn Holdco would replace Emera Inc. as the owner of NMGC.

Residents wishing to comment can attend in person or participate virtually by requesting Zoom login details through email or phone. Comments are limited to three minutes unless extended by the Commission. Written comments can be sent via email or mail, referencing case number 24-00266-UT.

An evidentiary hearing on this acquisition is planned for November 3-14, 2025. The NMPRC aims to ensure safe operations and reliable utility services at fair rates consistent with New Mexico's policies.
