Tax professionals from western states are gathering in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the annual Western States Association of Tax Administrators (WSATA) Tax Conference. The event is hosted by the New Mexico Taxation & Revenue Department from October 26 to 29.
Stephanie Schardin Clarke, Secretary of the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department, expressed enthusiasm about hosting the conference. "New Mexico is happy to host this group of knowledgeable individuals at the WSATA conference. This is a great opportunity to foster cross-state collaborations and share valuable information we can all use," she said.
Schardin Clarke holds positions as the outgoing president of WSATA and secretary on the Federation of Tax Administrators (FTA) Board of Trustees. FTA Executive Director Sharonne Bonardi praised her efforts: "Many thanks to Cabinet Secretary Schardin Clarke and her team at New Mexico Taxation and Revenue for hosting this year's meeting and providing this opportunity to share best practices, provide professional development, and improve member experience for our nation's taxpayers."
During the conference, Schardin Clarke will participate in a commissioners panel with other state revenue leaders on October 27 and an industry panel with subject matter experts on October 28. Bobbie Marquez from the department’s Tax Information and Policy Office will represent the department on an internal communications panel on October 28.
