The City of Las Cruces is set to host a dedication ceremony for a new public art sculpture, "Allochory," on November 13, 2025. The event will take place from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at City Hall, located at 700 N. Main St., near the flagpoles.
"Allochory," created by artist Jamie Spinello, is inspired by the pods of the red yucca plant, which grows in the area surrounding the sculpture. The artwork features an abstract design made from aluminum panels.
Funding for this piece was provided by New Mexico Arts through its "Art In Public Places" (AIPP) program. This sculpture is one of six selected from the AIPP catalog for installation at City Hall by a committee that included staff members, City Art board members, and a community representative.
For more information about the dedication ceremony or the sculpture itself, interested parties can contact Ceci Vasconcellos, Public Art Coordinator, at (575) 541-2780/TTY711 or via email at CVasconcellos@LasCruces.gov.
