Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) is seeking to fill a Library Specialist position at its South Valley Campus. The role offers an hourly wage between $18.22 and $22.79 and is classified as a regular, non-exempt position.
The Library Specialist will be responsible for assisting patrons with information needs, managing library resources and collections, providing research assistance, and promoting library programs. Additional duties include cataloging, supporting interlibrary loan services, offering technology support, and coordinating events and workshops within the library.
Specific responsibilities involve checking materials in and out while maintaining accurate circulation records, directing and training student employees in circulation tasks, arranging display materials, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, repairing equipment such as computers and printers, and using databases to help patrons with research inquiries. The specialist will also teach students how to access information related to their coursework and assist faculty in finding resources for research projects.
Instructional duties include teaching classes on information resources and basic information literacy skills. The role requires maintaining electronic aids like online tutorials, collaborating with faculty on resource selection for classes, evaluating new materials for the collection, coordinating interlibrary loans, organizing library materials, and performing other related tasks as assigned.
Minimum qualifications for applicants include a bachelor’s degree along with two to three years of full-time experience. Candidates must also have at least one year of related library experience or be enrolled in a Master’s of Library and Information Science program or possess an equivalent combination of education and experience.
