Dave’s Hot Chicken, a restaurant chain that started in California, has opened its first location in New Mexico. The new restaurant is located at 3703 Ellison Road NW Suite C in northwest Albuquerque. The opening took place on October 10, with the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce participating in the ribbon cutting ceremony.
The event drew a crowd, with customers lining up outside to try the food. This marks not only the first Dave’s Hot Chicken in Albuquerque but also the first in the state.
According to store managers, the new location will employ close to 100 people. There are also plans for a second location in Albuquerque.
Dave’s Hot Chicken began in 2017 when three childhood friends started selling hot chicken from folding tables and a portable fryer in East Hollywood after pooling together $900. The company has since gained popularity for its spicy menu offerings.
"The Chamber welcomes Dave’s Hot Chicken to Albuquerque and is eager to see the company continue its expansion throughout the city and state," said representatives from the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce.
