The New Mexico Department of Veterans' Services will host a ceremony to celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States Marine Corps. The event is scheduled for November 10, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the New Mexico State Capitol Rotunda in Santa Fe. This ceremony is part of a nationwide initiative called the "50 State Cake-Cutting," organized by the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation.
Sam Newton, a contact for the event, said that the ceremony aims to honor both active Marines and veterans. The program will include a presentation of colors, reading of a state proclamation, delivery of the Commandant’s official birthday message, speeches from guest speakers, and a traditional cake-cutting ceremony.
The event is free to attend and open to the public. For more information, interested parties can reach out via email.
