Representative Teresa Leger Fernández posted a series of tweets on October 13 and 14, 2025, focusing on Indigenous Peoples’ Day and community engagement.

On October 13, Leger Fernández wrote, "On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the histories, cultures, and future of Indigenous communities. Let’s honor this day by centering Tribal voices in our policies, protecting sacred lands, and respecting Tribal sovereignty not only in word but in action." The following day, she expressed gratitude to community members with another post: "Thank you all who welcomed us in community and tradition yesterday at the Indigenous Peoples’ Day Celebration." Later on October 14, she commented: "Yeah, we noticed. Maybe negotiating is a good strategy…"

Leger Fernández has a history of electoral victories in New Mexico’s 3rd congressional district. In the 2024 general election, she won against Sharon Clahchischilliage with 41.8% to 43.7%. In previous cycles, she defeated Alexis Martinez Johnson in both the 2022 and 2020 general elections.
