Lebanon and Beyond, a new garden at ABQ BioPark, is now open to the public. This garden offers an immersive experience that highlights the cultural and ecological connections between the Mediterranean region and the American Southwest. It blends Lebanese and New Mexican landscapes, creating a unique environment for visitors.

The project received significant support from Robert and Monika Ghattas, who have been business owners and community leaders in Albuquerque for over 70 years. Additional support came from the New Mexico BioPark Society (NMBPS). Julie Miller Rugg, Executive Director of NMBPS, said, "The Ghattas family’s generosity, combined with the support of our members and donors, has made Lebanon and Beyond possible." She added that this garden exemplifies how philanthropy can create spaces that connect people with nature while celebrating cultural heritage.

Visitors to Lebanon and Beyond will encounter Mediterranean plantings such as fig trees and Lebanon cedars alongside New Mexican flora like Yucca rostrata. The garden also features Lebanese-inspired architecture integrated with desert landscapes. Additionally, there are sensory and gathering spaces designed for education, small events, and reflection.

This initiative aligns with ABQ BioPark's mission to connect people with nature and celebrate diverse ecosystems. The Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce supports efforts like these that enhance community engagement through cultural connections.
