The Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women (CSVANW) will hold its 10th Annual I Will Run for Them 5K on October 11, 2025, at Isleta Lakes and RV Park in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The event is scheduled during Domestic Violence Awareness Month and is aimed at honoring Native survivors and individuals working to break cycles of violence.
Tiffany Jiron, Executive Director of CSVANW, stated, “Running is healing. Movement is medicine. Our communities are experiencing an imbalance, and we need space to heal, so we can honor the beauty of our relatives’ resiliency.”
Since the event began in 2016, it has served as a gathering for survivors and supporters to remember and honor those affected by domestic and sexual violence. The event recognizes the ongoing efforts of community members who seek safety and wellness.
According to CSVANW, four out of five Native women experience violence during their lifetime, and one in ten men in the United States faces intimate partner violence-related sexual or physical violence. CSVANW notes that these numbers reflect ongoing challenges within communities.
The run will start at 8 a.m., with check-in beginning at 7 a.m. Registration for the event is closed. Participants are encouraged to dedicate their participation to survivors and those who have been lost. The event is open for both in-person and virtual participation.
Funds raised from the event will support CSVANW’s programs throughout 23 Tribal communities in New Mexico. These initiatives focus on advocacy for survivors, youth education, and community safety.
“Join us in movement and medicine. Let’s run for those who can’t, walk for those healing, and stand for a future free from violence,” CSVANW stated.
