Fundraising is important for public libraries to maintain and improve their services, expand programs, and offer more resources to the community. These efforts also help build stronger relationships between libraries and local residents.
The Library Support Network (LSN) offers support to public library fundraisers by sharing best practices, ideas, and other resources. Membership in LSN is currently free. More details about the initiative can be found on their website: https://supportspl.org/lsn/#lsn-community
Information about LSN was presented during a session called "First Steps to Fundraising Session: How Every Library Can Build Support" at the 2025 Association for Rural & Small Libraries (ARSL) conference held in Albuquerque from September 17-20, 2025. The presenters included Jonna Ward, Founder & CEO of LSN, who has experience with fundraising for public libraries.
This announcement was posted by Carmelita Aragon, Library Development Bureau Chief at New Mexico State Library.
