On September 30, 2025, Haaland highlighted grassroots support for her campaign, stating: "Our average donation this month is just $23. Can you help keep our campaign strong with a grassroots donation of any amount today?"
The following day, she addressed the effects of the federal government shutdown on New Mexico residents. In a post dated October 1, 2025, Haaland wrote: "In New Mexico, 22,000 federal employees and their families face uncertainty because of the Republican shutdown. Donald Trump would rather raise healthcare costs than keep the gov't open. With costs rising, rural hospitals on the brink, and thousands at risk of losing coverage —"
