Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández comments on health care premiums and looming government shutdown

Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández has recently addressed concerns about health care costs and the impending government shutdown through a series of posts on her social media account.

On September 30, 2025, Rep. Leger Fernández cited findings from a recent analysis: "A new report from the nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation shows that health care premiums will more than double if Republicans allow the health care tax credits to expire. Shame."

Later that evening, she highlighted the approaching deadline for federal funding: "The government shuts down at midnight. Here’s what that means:" The post included a link for further information.

In a subsequent post on October 1, 2025, Rep. Leger Fernández referenced ongoing efforts to locate Republican representatives during the shutdown discussions: "We’re still looking for them, Suzie… are people checking in on their Republican reps?"

Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández has represented New Mexico's 3rd congressional district since her election in 2020. She won re-election in both 2022 and 2024, defeating Alexis Martinez Johnson in two consecutive cycles and Sharon Clahchischilliage in the most recent contest.
