The U.S. Army has completed a series of soldier-led flight tests for Lockheed Martin’s Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. The tests, conducted in September, involved firing the missile from both a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) and both pods of the Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) M270A2. This marks the first time multiple rockets were fired from both types of launchers.

According to Lockheed Martin, these successful tests are a step forward in providing American soldiers with advanced long-range capabilities on established platforms. Carolyn Orzechowski, vice president of Precision Fires Launchers and Missiles at Lockheed Martin, stated: “This milestone validates the soldier’s ability to fire PrSM from all platforms in the U.S. Army inventory and certifies mission readiness. Lockheed Martin is committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation to deliver the most advanced 21st Century Security solutions to the warfighter – leveraging digital technologies to streamline development, testing and fielding.”

The tests demonstrated that PrSM can reach extended ranges against targets and is compatible with both launcher platforms built by Lockheed Martin. The missile met requirements for lethality, range, and accuracy throughout its trajectory.

Lockheed Martin highlighted that this progress reflects strong collaboration between its teams and the U.S. Army, focusing on speed and adaptability in program development.

The Precision Strike Missile is designed for next-generation long-range precision strike capability with an operational range exceeding 400 kilometers. Its open systems architecture allows for cost-effective upgrades and flexibility for future improvements.
