On September 17, the 377th Medical Group at Kirtland Air Force Base organized the Bump and Beyond Expo. The event aimed to connect airmen and their families with health care providers and support resources by bringing together local agencies, specialists, and community organizations.
Lt. Col. Susan Joseph, chief nurse executive of the 377th Medical Group, explained the goal of the expo: “We wanted to give our beneficiaries direct access to these experts, so they know what resources are available to them and how to use them.”
The medical group recognizes that access to specialized women’s health providers can be limited at times. In response, it works with local hospitals and community partners to ensure comprehensive care for military families.
Participants at the expo included maternal and child health providers, family and home visiting services, a CPR instructor, a TRICARE representative, faith-based organizations, among others. This variety was intended to help guide beneficiaries through a complex network of health resources.
According to organizers, the event was designed not only to inform but also to make connections more visible for families seeking care on base or within the community. It is part of an ongoing commitment by the 377th Medical Group to support families beyond clinical settings.
The Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce supports Kirtland Air Force Base in its efforts to educate about and provide health-care services for the local community.
