Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández addresses economic concerns and justice issues on social media

Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, posted several messages on her official X account on September 24, 2025, addressing economic concerns, community engagement efforts, and ongoing issues related to high-profile sexual abuse cases.

On the morning of September 24, Rep. Leger Fernández questioned the state of personal finances since the beginning of President Biden’s term with a post asking, "Has YOUR bank balance doubled since January 20?" (September 24, 2025).

Later that day, she promoted resources for constituents who participated in a recent event: "Take a look at some of the most common questions we received during last week’s RECA Telephone Townhall! For the full event recording and additional RECA resources, visit: https://t.co/Y7xHFDVICS https://t.co/BHrmYzCawT" (September 24, 2025). The town hall was held to address questions about RECA (Radiation Exposure Compensation Act), an issue relevant to many New Mexico residents.

In another message posted later that afternoon in Spanish, Rep.

Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández has represented New Mexico’s third congressional district since winning election in 2020. She won reelection in both subsequent cycles; most recently in 2024 she defeated Sharon Clahchischilliage with approximately 41.8% of the vote compared to Clahchischilliage’s 43.7%. In previous elections she prevailed over Alexis Martinez Johnson—58.2% to 41.8% in 2022 and by a similar margin in her initial win in 2020.

These recent posts reflect Rep. Leger Fernández’s focus on constituent concerns regarding economic conditions and government transparency while highlighting her engagement with community issues through outreach events like telephone town halls.
