Myka Autumn Curtis has been appointed as the new Associate Director of Admissions and Pathway Initiatives at the UNM School of Law. In her new position, Curtis will be responsible for supporting admissions growth, enhancing recruitment efforts, and expanding outreach initiatives.

Curtis is a member of the Diné community and a first-generation college graduate from San Juan County, New Mexico. She recently earned her Juris Doctor degree from the UNM School of Law. Before attending law school, she participated in the Pre-Law Summer Institute (PLSI) through the American Indian Law Center (AILC), which she describes as foundational to her legal career. She later returned to PLSI as a teaching assistant for Legal Advocacy, where she mentored incoming law students.

Reflecting on her journey, Curtis said: “I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to give back to the UNM School of Law community that shaped me and to the students who will one day serve our state as attorneys. As a Diné woman, I carry with me the strength of my community and the inspiration of New Mexico’s many cultures. I am passionate about helping future law students see how their voices and experiences belong in the legal profession. I’m excited to walk with them on their journey from the very beginning.”

The admissions team at UNM School of Law remains focused on building a diverse and inclusive student body while supporting each student's success. Their ongoing efforts include developing strategies to attract strong candidates and offering pathway programs designed for students from underrepresented or disadvantaged backgrounds.
