Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández, a member of Congress from New Mexico, recently posted a series of updates on her social media account addressing topics ranging from community outreach to national arts recognition and federal healthcare policy.
On September 17, 2025, Leger Fernández announced a live event aimed at educating the public about the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA). She stated, "Happening now We’re live for our RECA Telephone Workshop. Learn who’s eligible and how to apply. Join by phone or online by following this link: https://t.co/Y5wOGWP36X https://t.co/PBSGxk8gih".
The following day, she highlighted the appointment of Arthur Sze as U.S. Poet Laureate in a post that read, "The words of New Mexico will now echo across the nation. Arthur Sze — poet, teacher, former IAIA guide — now turns the page as U.S. Poet Laureate, a voice weaving stories of place, memory, and Indigenous strength." (September 18, 2025).
Later that same day, Leger Fernández criticized a recent funding proposal from House Republicans regarding health care policy: "House Republicans’ funding proposal does nothing to address this looming health care crisis that will raise Americans’ costs. We’re not going along with their plan." (September 18, 2025).
Leger Fernández has served as U.S. Representative for New Mexico's 3rd congressional district since winning election in 2020. She secured victories against Alexis Martinez Johnson in both the 2020 and 2022 general elections and defeated Sharon Clahchischilliage in the most recent contest in 2024.
