The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) District Five office has allocated $16.3 million to 13 roadway projects across its region, providing a 95% funding match to local governments. The investment is part of the department’s Transportation Project Fund (TPF) program, which awarded more than $100 million statewide to 71 projects.
Rhonda Lopez, NMDOT District 5 Engineer, said, “The Transportation Project Fund provides a great opportunity for our local counties, cities and tribal governments to receive funding for various transportation related projects. Without this resource, many of these municipalities would not be able to fund these vital infrastructure projects that are important to each of their communities.”
Projects funded in District Five include:
- City of Bloomfield: East Blanco Road Reconstruction ($990,334)
- Rio Arriba County: Overlay County Road 57 ($2,809,001)
- San Juan County: Bridge 8113 Rehabilitation ($1,149,500)
- Santa Fe County: Avenida del Sur Extension ($1,900,000)
- Taos County: Callejon Road ($237,441) and Tom Holder Road ($510,625)
- Town of Estancia: Lassiter Street Improvements ($950,000)
- Village of Questa: Cabresto Road ($1,282,500) and Lower Embargo Road ($727,602)
- Torrance County: Alan Ayers Road Project ($957,388) and Charlie Breckenridge Rd Project ($343,465)
- Town of Red River: High Streets Improvements ($2,850,000)
- Navajo Nation DOT: 371/NR 36 Intersection Improvements ($1,615,000)
District Five collaborates with nine tribes, six counties and ten municipalities in its area. Its partnerships also extend to ten school districts.
