New Mexico DOT allocates $18.7 million to District Two transportation projects

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) has allocated over $18.7 million for roadway projects in District Two as part of a broader $100.4 million investment across the state through its Transportation Project Fund (TPF). The funding supports 71 local projects, with District Two receiving support for eleven separate initiatives.

The projects funded in District Two include maintenance and improvement work in several cities and counties. The City of Clovis will receive $2,660,000 for maintenance on 21st Street. The City of Jal is set to benefit from $3,096,245 for 2026 roadway improvements. Portales will see $2,850,000 dedicated to South Avenue K improvements.

In Roswell, $1,444,000 has been earmarked for pavement maintenance and restriping along 2nd Street (US 380). Curry County is receiving $1,326,967 for various county road maintenance efforts. Lincoln County’s road maintenance improvements are supported by a grant of $1,900,000.

Other communities receiving funds include Carrizozo ($755,416), Tatum ($424,501), Vaughn ($1,900,000), Ruidoso ($1,900,000), and De Baca County ($482,676) for their respective road preservation or design projects.

NMDOT District Two collaborates with one tribe as well as nine counties and 32 municipalities within its region. Its partnerships extend to 42 school districts or universities and regional organizations such as the Eastern Plains Council of Governments and the Southeastern Regional Transportation Planning Organization (SERTPO).
