Mora County residents affected by recent flooding have until September 25 to request emergency replacement of their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, according to the New Mexico Health Care Authority (HCA). The deadline applies to those who lost food due to flood damage in specific ZIP codes within the county.

“We are committed to standing with the residents of Mora County as they recover from the recent flooding,” said Niki Kozlowski, Income Support Division Director. “We are helping families replace the food they lost so they can continue to have the nutrition they need during this time.”

The HCA is providing emergency support for SNAP households in these ZIP codes: 88732, 87722, 87752, 87715, 87712, 87734, 87723, 87713, 87736, 87753, 87735 and 87750. Households must be current SNAP recipients and live in one of these areas. Food loss must be reported verbally or in writing by September 25; no documentation of specific food items is required.

Residents can report losses by calling (800) 283-4465 between 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., or by visiting the local office at 2536 Ridge Runner, Las Vegas, NM from Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Additionally, SNAP customers statewide can replace lost or damaged EBT cards using the FIS EBT Edge app (available from app stores), through www.ebtedge.com, by calling 1-800-843-8303, or at their local HCA office.

This assistance covers about 305 New Mexicans and follows an executive order from Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham declaring a state of emergency in Mora County due to flooding. The measure is part of ongoing efforts to help families recover from fire and flood-related damages across New Mexico.

The HCA encourages eligible households not to delay reporting losses so that replacement benefits can be processed before the September deadline.

“We talk, interpret and smile in all languages. We provide written information to our customers in both English and Spanish and interpretation services are available in 58 languages through our provider, CTS Language Link. For our hearing, and speech impaired customers, we utilize Relay New Mexico, a free 24-hour service that ensures equal communication access via the telephone to individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind or speech disabled.”
