Nusenda Credit Union has announced a $1.5 million investment in the Boys & Girls Club of Las Cruces, aimed at supporting the club's facility expansion and enhancing opportunities for youth and families in Southern New Mexico. The investment will be distributed over five years and includes naming rights for a new gymnasium, as well as a collaborative effort to provide financial literacy programs.
Michelle Dearholt, President and CEO of Nusenda Credit Union, emphasized the importance of this expansion: "This expansion is more than bricks and mortar - it’s a promise to our kids that they matter, and that their dreams deserve a space to grow." She highlighted the impact of the Boys & Girls Club on families in Las Cruces.
The Boys & Girls Club's Building Great Futures Capital Campaign aims to raise $10 million to renovate and expand its current facility into a modern 30,000-square-foot center. This would be the club's first new home since 1965. The expanded facility will include a STEM lab, arts spaces, learning areas, and a wing dedicated to teens.
Ashley Echavarria, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Las Cruces, expressed gratitude for Nusenda's contribution: "We are profoundly grateful to Nusenda Credit Union for their extraordinary $1.5 million commitment—the largest gift in our organization’s history." She noted that this support will help push their campaign beyond $6.1 million raised so far.
The partnership between Nusenda Credit Union and the Boys & Girls Club focuses on education and community well-being. For further details about Nusenda Credit Union’s initiatives, visit their website at www.nusenda.org.
