Taxpayers in Mora County, New Mexico, affected by recent flooding have been granted additional time to file their personal and business taxes. The New Mexico Taxation & Revenue Department has announced that individuals and businesses impacted by the floods will receive extensions on various tax filings.

For gross receipts tax, compensating tax, withholding taxes, oil and gas taxes, combined fuel tax, and other excise taxes, the new deadline is set for November 25, 2025. These were originally due on August 25 and September 25 of the same year. Meanwhile, personal and corporate income taxes now have a filing deadline of November 17, 2025, moved from the original date of September 15.

The department clarified that while penalties for late filing and payment will be waived for those affected by the floods, state law does not permit the waiver of interest on overdue payments.

Taxpayers must inform the department via letter or email if they qualify as affected taxpayers and provide necessary documentation. This notification can occur before filing or after receiving notices for late payment penalties. Detailed eligibility requirements are outlined in Bulletin 100.48 available online. For those needing more time beyond these extensions, Form RPD-41096 can be completed to request further extension.

Contact information for different types of taxes is provided through specific email addresses such as Trd.TaxReturnHelp@tax.nm.gov for personal income tax inquiries.
