New Mexico Tech will present a diverse lineup of musical, theatrical, and cultural performances as part of its Performing Arts Series (PAS) for the 2025-2026 season. The events are open to students, faculty, staff, and the wider community, offering access to world-renowned musicians, storytellers, actors, and dancers without the need to travel far.
The series will include both internationally known acts and traditional favorites. Information on the full schedule and ticket pricing is available at nmt.edu/pas. Most performances at Macey Center cost $22 for adults, $18 for seniors aged 65 and older, $10 for youth under 18, and are free for degree-seeking NMT students with a valid ID. Season tickets offer a 25% discount off individual event prices.
Dana Chavez-Baca, director of PAS, expressed her enthusiasm about this year’s program: “So many special performances are planned this year,” she said. “We have everything from a salute to a classic rock’n’roll band, to magic and illusion, plus several diverse musical theater performances.”
Chavez-Baca highlighted the Presidential Chamber and World Music Series as a particular point of interest. This series features four free concerts bringing classical and international music to Macey Center’s stage.
“I really hope students, faculty and staff, and Socorro-area residents take advantage of the very rich and diverse season we have planned,” she said. “There’s bound to be something for everyone, and many opportunities for attendees to discover new favorite genres. It is a fun season.”
The subscription series runs from September through April 2026 with additional pre-show events throughout the year.
The Presidential Chamber and World Music Series is sponsored by New Mexico Tech President Mahyar Amouzegar. It offers four free concerts intended for students, faculty members, community residents, and their families.
Community events also form an important part of the upcoming season. The opening event is SocorroFest—a two-day celebration held October 10-11 in Socorro’s Historic Plaza—featuring Canadian quartet The Dreamboats as headliners along with local bands performing across multiple stages. The festival includes arts vendors, food booths, a spirits tent on Friday evening (October 10), continuing all day Saturday (October 11).
Other highlights during the season include:
- A Women’s Art Showcase in March aligned with Women’s History Month.
- Performances involving local youth such as National Dance Institute NM on November 20.
- Missoula Children’s Theater production on June 13.
- The annual Fourth of July Celebration featuring New Mexico musicians with fireworks choreographed by NMT's Energetic Materials Research and Training Center (EMRTC).
NMTPAS is funded by New Mexico Tech alongside support from organizations including the City of Socorro; New Mexico Arts; Creative West; National Endowment for the Arts; Betty Clark Inaugural Memorial Endowment; foundations; businesses; groups; and individuals.
