Sen Michael Padilla highlights local business and announces universal child care initiative

Senator Michael Padilla, a Democrat representing New Mexico's 14th Senate district since 2013, recently used his social media platform to highlight local businesses, announce a major child care initiative, and promote an upcoming public safety meeting.

On September 7, 2025, Padilla endorsed a local business in Albuquerque. He wrote, "New Mexico Business Saturday - Highly recommend Golden Cuts at Isleta and Rio Bravo! I've been looking for a place closer to my home. These cats do a great job. @senpadilla @senpadilla #nmpol #nmleg https://t.co/pXI9i8AGnv".

Two days later, on September 8, 2025, Padilla announced significant news regarding child care policy in the state. In his post he stated, "Proud to speak at our press conference announcing big news for New Mexico families! Starting Nov. 1, 2025, child care will be universal + free for every family. That’s an average savings of $12,804 per child each year, plus better pay for providers and almost 13,000 new child https://t.co/sCq0QNXutA".

Continuing his engagement with community issues, Padilla posted on September 9 about an event focused on pedestrian safety: "Important discussion on pedestrian safety along South Coors Boulevard this Thursday, September 11, 5:30 PM. Please attend. @senpadilla @nmsenatedems #nmpol #nmleg https://t.co/rItDc1q9o0".

Padilla has served in the New Mexico State Senate since being elected in 2013 to represent District 14 after succeeding Eric Griego.
