Greater Albuquerque Chamber joins national push for bipartisan permitting reform

The Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce has joined with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other chambers nationwide in supporting bipartisan permitting reform. The coalition aims to address what it describes as outdated and inefficient permitting processes that slow down infrastructure projects, increase costs, and delay benefits such as safer roads, improved public transit, affordable energy, and high-speed internet.

The coalition letter calls on Congress to pass comprehensive permitting reform during the upcoming legislative session. The effort is being led by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which is encouraging chambers and trade associations across the country to sign on.

The group has outlined four main principles for reform: predictability through clear timelines and project review scope; efficiency via better interagency coordination; transparency with accessible project milestones and schedules; and consistent opportunities for stakeholder input.

"The Chamber lends its support to this cause because it directly affects economic development in New Mexico and across the country," according to a statement from the organization.

The full text of the coalition letter can be found here.
